On Friday, July 29, Temple Beth El and the Jewish Federation's Community Relations Committee will co-sponsor the Seventh Annual Schloss Summer Lecture. This year, we will explore the quickly changing landscape of the Middle East and its impact on Israel. Featured guest speakers will include Queens University of Charlotte Professor of Political Science and International Studies, Dr. Alexa Royden, and Dr. Rafi Danziger, Director of Research and Information for AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and editor of its biweekly newsletter, Near East Report.
Why not start your weekend off at Temple Beth El? Join us at 6:00 pm for our summer Shabbat worship service, followed by dinner at 7:00 pm in the David Silverman Social Hall. Reservations for dinner ($10/person) are required and may be made at www.beth-el.com/RSVP or by calling 704-749-3070. From 7:30-8:30 pm, we will enjoy an hour of engaging dialogue on this topic of pressing interest to the Jewish world. This lecture was established by Marc and Mattye Silverman in memory of Marc's uncle, Simeon Archibald "Happy" Schloss, Jr. Happy was a passionate, original founder of Temple Beth El, and a treasurer.
