ROOM IN THE INN Once again we are staring at a cold winter that will arrive in December, and Temple Beth El, Temple Israel and the Jewish Community Center will be hosting homeless “neighbors” from Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. The RITI volunteers for the last 13 years have been nothing short of superb, helping out as overnight monitors, food preparers, food servers, doing set up (make beds, set up tables and chairs) and clean up (put beds away, clean kitchen), as drivers (pick up and drop off “neighbors”), breakfast makers, lunch makers, moving beds and doing any other tasks needed. I’m sure this year will be no different. Temple members are always there when needed, and our “neighbors” are always grateful for your generous sharing of time and treasures. Ask any previous volunteer how he or she feels after volunteering for RITI, and you’ll hear a resounding positive reaction. Helping others less fortunate than ourselves is truly a great Mitzvah which we are commanded to do. What are the needs this year? Volunteers to help in any of the categories listed below. Time involved: anywhere from an hour or two in the evening or an hour or two in the morning of the overnights to being an overnight monitor. Training is provided and couples are welcome to work together to staff these positions. The Dates
