Charlotte & the Carolinas

Welcome to Charlotte!

Shalom Y'all!

We would like to introduce you to the beautiful Charlotte region.  The Queen City is a diverse, modern cosmopolitan area, yet it retains its old southern charm.  Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the country.  It is the second largest banking center in the United States, behind only New York.  Charlotte is the fifth largest city in trade and distribution. The Charlotte Douglas airport is the hub for US Airways.  There is something for everyone's taste and interest.

For the culturally minded, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and Ovens Auditorium provide opportunities to experience a Broadway production, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, an opera or a ballet.  There are a number of museums including the Mint Museum of Art, the Mint Museum of Craft & Design, Nature Museum, the Charlotte Museum of History and the Levine Museum of the New South.  Take a leisurely stroll through the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens or let it all hang out on one of the thrilling roller coasters at Paramount's Carowinds amusement park.

Sports enthusiasts enjoy attending the Carolina Panther games, Charlotte Bobcats games, or taking in the excitement of NASCAR at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.  There are many challenging courses for golf enthusiasts.  You may just spend the day driving around looking at the many beautiful historic homes, boating on Lake Norman or Lake Wylie, or simply walking around uptown Charlotte.  For weekend getaways, Charlotte is conveniently only a few hours from the mountains to the west and the beaches to the east.

Education

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg public school system is the country's 25th largest. Some of the schools are amongst the top in the state.  South Charlotte in particular not only has some of the finest public schools in North Carolina but several schools have been rated within the top 60 nationally.   Please refer to the Charlotte Observer website at the bottom of this document for further information.

Housing

The housing market has exploded over the past ten years to try to meet the demands of the population growth.  Real Estate values have gone way up.  There are many choices both in existing and new construction.  A wide variety of styles exist from traditional, transitional, bungalows, patio homes, cape-cod, Georgian, custom-built mansions, ranches, two or three story homes, townhouses and condos.  You'll find exteriors including all brick, partial brick, stucco, vinyl or Masonite siding, fieldstone, and shake.   You name it and you'll find it in your price range.  If you want to start off in an apartment before looking for a home or if apartment living suits your lifestyle, there are many from which to choose.
