Temple Beth El Brotherhood Offers Fellowship, Fun, Synagogue Support
What is the Brotherhood?
We're a group of men who promote meaningful fellowship and celebration of our Jewish heritage.
Our Mission
To strengthen the social and spiritual ties among Temple members and provide rewarding, enriching and entertaining programs, social activities and community projects. We raise funds for an array of temple activities; however, most of our fundraising efforts support Beth El teen programs, including financial aid scholarships for two high school seniors, sponsorship of Tot Shabbat services, and helping underwrite the expense of the confirmation’s annual class trip to Washington, DC . Members of The Brotherhood also serve as usher during Shabbat services as well as High Holy Day services.
How to join
The cost is just $36/year. Send your check c/o Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC28226.
Are you a member, but not receiving Brotherhood emails?
The Brotherhood generally meets from September through June, and has guest speakers at its Sunday breakfast or weekday evening dinner meetings. Our most popular meeting is held in March, when we gather to pack and mail Yom HaShoah candles to every household in the Beth El community. We also hold a Men’s Seder every April. Click here for picture of this year's seder.
Sometimes, we get together just to have fun, like our annual bowling party every December, our book club or our sports memorabilia group. We also meet the third Thursday night of every month at a local restaurant/bar for drinks and dinner. Want to help?
We have several committees in need of talented people like you, including:
Membership – help attract new members
Programming – help identify speakers for our monthly meetings
Fund-raising – help create and plan new fund-raisers
For more information, contact Brotherhood President Brian Emery at nairbyr@gmail.com.

Cost is $72, including breakfast, range balls, golf, lunch, prizes and tons of fun. Captain's choice format -- all skill levels welcome. 9 AM shotgun start. To sign up, send a check payable to Temple Beth El Brotherhood to Jeff Cohen, 2027 Greenway Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204, along with your handicap or recent golf scores and team member preferences, if any. Nonmembers welcome.
Thank you to our 2009 Yom Hashoah (Yellow Candle) Donors!
Each year, the Temple Beth El Brotherhood sends a YomHaShoah candle to the home of each congregant to commemorate the Holocaust. This mitzvah project requires 60 hours of manpower to physically assemble and pack the shipping boxes. While the Brotherhood proudly underwrites this mitzvah project at a cost of $2,750, we appreciate and accept donations from our congregants. This year we wish to thank the following congregants for their generous contribution:
