DRIVERS NEEDED
There are many in our congregation who don’t drive at night or who need transportation to various Temple events. The Caring Committee is building a database of people who would like to be on a call list of those willing to offer rides to Temple occasionally to members of our congregation.

When someone requests a ride, we will go to the database to contact those in close proximity to see if they are also coming to Temple for the same event and would be able to pick someone up. If you can offer a ride occasionally, please let us know by giving us your address (including zip code) and events you attend regularly (Friday night services at 6 or 8 pm, Saturday morning Torah study, Wednesday night classes, etc.).

To add your name to the list, call Ellen Muhlfelder at 704-821-2083.

RIDES TO TEMPLE FOR SHABBAT
The Caring Community has worked to facilitate rides for those who wish to attend services or events at Temple Beth El.

If you need a ride . . . please call the Temple no later than noon on Thursday, and leave us your name, address and contact phone number. If you are available to provide a ride . . . please let us know as soon as possible where you live and whether you will be attending the 6:00 pm or the 8:00 pm service. Our volunteer will either match up riders and drivers, or will make arrangements for riders to be transported by a local cab company.

Please note that we are unable to handle wheelchairs or other special needs, but we can put you in touch with the Charlotte Area Transit (CATS) service.

Our Mission:
The Susan Kramer Healing Center is part of the Caring Community of Temple Beth El, dedicated to promoting health and healing by nurturing a sense of community and applying the wisdom of Jewish tradition to our lives.

The Healing Center is committed to serving the Jewish community, but opens its doors to all people, offering emotional and spiritual support, education, material aids, and sanctuary to all.

We provide:
 Emergency meals
 Bereavement support
 Home and hospital visits
 Rides to Temple events
 Friday challah deliveries for shut-ins
 Extended support through Second Family

PLEASE CALL US ABOUT NEEDS!!
The clergy and the Caring Committee work hard to respond to the needs of those in our Temple family. With such a large community spread out over a broad geographical area, this is often a challenge. This is where we need you. If you are in need, or you know of a member of our Temple family who is ill or in need, please call us!

Calls regarding emergencies, hospitalizations or other urgent needs should go directly to any of the clergy. Referrals and requests of a non-urgent nature can go to the Caring Community by calling 704-366-1948 and asking for extension 111.

With your help, we can best serve the needs of all of our Temple Beth El congregants.

SPECIAL SERVICE OF HEALING AND COMFORT
The last Friday of every month
It is a time of peace and reassurance for those facing difficult circumstances in their lives. Join us for this unique opportunity.

If you are facing illness, caring for someone who is sick, or in need of exploring resources to bring wholeness and serenity into your life, you won’t want to miss this time of study and prayer.

THE MEDICAL SUPPLY CLOSET

MEDICAL CLOSET NEEDS NEW SPACE
One of the most successful projects of the Caring Community has been the Medical Closet, from which we have been able to lend or give medical equipment to members of the community who need them long- or short-term. Many of you have been generous in donating equipment that you no longer need, and your kindness has benefited others.

The Caring Community was recently informed that the storage company donating our space has sold the facility, and that we will have to relocate our stored equipment. The present space is about 10’ x 10’ -- although a slightly larger space would accommodate equipment such as electric wheelchairs. If you have or are aware of space that we might put to use, please contact Ellen Muhlfelder at 704-821-2083, or Cantor Bernard at 704-366-1948 x107 or at CantorB@carolina.rr.com. We hope to continue providing this valuable service to our community.

The Susan Kramer Healing Center continues to receive donations of used medical equipment for the Medical Supply Closet.

These items are available to be borrowed for brief or extended periods of time. We are glad to accept additional donations of equipment. To borrow or donate equipment, contact the Healing Center at 704-366-1948, ext 111 (calls to extension 111 are generally answered within 72 hours).

Items currently available include:
 Manual wheelchair (and one out on loan)
 Walkers (collapsible and with wheels)
 Crutches (aluminum and wooden)
 Bedside commodes
 Thomas collar
 Anti-embolitic stockings (size: large)
 Wooden cane
 Grab stick
 Long-handled bath sponges
 Long handled shoe horn
 Foot loop
 Elevated toilet seat
 Rubber bed sheets
 Various size sponges used to prop up extremities

If you are in need of other items, please contact the Healing Center as our inventory changes constantly.
