Micah
Streiffer is a product of Reform Judaism camping, the youth
movement, and Israel programming. He earned his Bachelors Degree
(summa cum laude) in Judaic Studies, with a minor in Music, from
the George Washington University in 2000, and was ordained a
rabbi by the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of
Religion, Cincinnati campus, in June 2007.
Rabbi Streiffer is passionate about Israel, Hebrew, music,
youth, and Jewish learning. His road to the rabbinate began
during a semester spent in Jerusalem in high school, and has led
him back to Israel three additional times for a total of nearly
three years. He also spent time writing and editing at Torah
Aura Productions, a leading publisher of Jewish educational
materials.
While studying toward the rabbinate, Rabbi Streiffer served
pulpits in Newark, OH, Colleyville, TX, Mattoon, IL, Cincinnati,
OH, Richmond, IN, and Piqua, OH. In 2006, he was awarded the
Rabbi Morris H. Youngerman Prize for the best sermon delivered
in the HUC-JIR chapel. His rabbinate is guided by the principles
of K’lal Yisrael (Jewish peoplehood) and Tikkun Olam (healing
the world).
In his spare time, he enjoys playing music, making sushi,
reading, fantasy football, and watching his beloved Denver
Broncos. Rabbi Streiffer is married to Shoshana Streiffer, and
they have two sons: Jeremiah (“Rami”) and Noam.
