Vacations replenish us physically as
they are often filled with new sites, fun in the sun, fine food,
or significant time with family and friends. Temple Beth El
congregational trips serve a different purpose. They renew us
spiritually. Our congregational trips connect us to our history
– to our beginnings and to moments that transformed us as a
people. They connect us to our faith as we come to understand
the miracles of our survival. They deepen our connections to our
clergy and to our community. Our trips challenge us
intellectually and spiritually as we walk in the footsteps of
our ancestors and contemplate first hand their great struggles
and accomplishments.
Our past two years of Family and Adult Trips
and summer Teen Trips have achieved these goals and been overwhelmingly
successful. Similarly, dreams were fulfilled on our most recent
congregational trip that returned in late June, just days before the
current crisis. We are confident that our congregational prayers will be
answered, that a stronger state of peace in Israel will emerge, and that
we will continue to be able to offer these once-in-a lifetime
opportunities. While our Teen trips to Israel will continue annually,
Family and Adult Trips to Israel will be offered every other year. In
the interim years we are considering various other destinations that
contain rich Jewish heritage and history. |
We are delighted to announce that our first
such trip will be a Jewish Heritage Tour of Central and Eastern Europe.
We will visit Krakow, Warsaw and Auschwitz in Poland, and then head to
Prague, Vienna and Budapest. This trip will take place in the Spring of
2007. Many more details to come!
Our congregational trips will change your
life and the lives of your family members. These trips will touch your
soul, connect you to the roots of our people, and quite possibly will
serve as a long sought after dream fulfilled.
It is our intention that our trips will be
plausible for every Beth El congregant. In that regard, we are
announcing the following trips so that you will have time to plan
accordingly.
