Kramer's Remarks

Cherie’s Kramer’s Remarks

“Business as usual, but not the column!”

Arthur is busy getting the Temple ready for the High Holy days, and I’m busy covering the office. Instead of his usual column, I thought I’d just publish answers to the most frequently asked questions:

1. The High Holy Day tickets have been mailed out. If you haven’t received yours, call the office.

2. There are absolutely no walk-ins for the Nursery during High Holy Days. Make your reservations now!

3. We don’t know when the Yizkor services will start or when services will end. Plan to join us for the entire Yom Kippur afternoon.

4. Yes - the ushers will ask to see your ticket.
No - don’t save seats, please.

5. Junior congregation is for Kindergarten through fifth grade. Older students should come to services and younger children should go to the nursery.

6. Guest tickets have been mailed separately. If you are having visitors, please call the office.

7. The evening and afternoon services are at Temple Beth El. The morning services are at St. Matthew Catholic Church.

8. There is a congregational Shabbat dinner and High Holy Day song review on Friday, September 7th at 6:45 p.m.Call the Temple or register on-line at www.beth-el.com by September 4th!

9. There are limited special-need parking places available. Call the office if you need one.

10. After September 10th we won’t be able to rely on the mail, and tickets will need to be picked up at the Temple.

Those are the answers. Next month we will publish the questions! In the meantime Arthur phoned in this quiz:

a. There is one word in the English language that is always pronounced incorrectly. What is it?

b. A boat has a ladder that has six rungs, each rung is one foot apart. The bottom rung is one foot from the water. The tide rises at 12 inches every 15 minutes. High tide peaks in one hour. When the tide is at it’s highest, how many rungs are under water?

c. What is the significance of the following: The year is 1978, thirty-four minutes past noon on May 6th.

Send your answers by letter, fax (704) 366 1365 or e-mail to: info@beth-el.com.
