“Thank You”
There's an old saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get
it." Whoever came up with that expression must have been thinking about
the Temple Beth El Brotherhood.
I was at a confirmation class and the students were talking about their
upcoming service. One of them said it would be great if the Temple had an
LCD Projector so they could show slides. When I was asked whether or not
we had one, my answer was "no." For some reason, I then added, "But I'll
see what I can do."
The next day I called Jeff Garis, president of Brotherhood and told him
what we needed. Jeff said, "I'll bring it up at our next meeting."
About two weeks later, I was sitting in my office and Jeff came by and
told me to stop in the boardroom when I could. On my way down the hall, I
wondered what the problem was. It reminded me of when I was in school and
the announcement came over the intercom for Arthur Kramer to report to the
office. I knew I had done something, I just didn't know what they had
found out. Thankfully, it was that I forgot my lunch. To my complete shock
and surprise when I walked in the boardroom, there on the table was a
brand new LCD projector. Jeff said, “We just wanted to show you the new
addition Brotherhood was donating to the Temple.”
This amazing gift will be used not only for the confirmation service but
also for the religious school, board presentations, adult education events
and so much more. On behalf of Temple Beth El I want to express my sincere
gratitude and thanks to our Brotherhood. They were told of a need and
responded immediately. Thank you so much. Maybe we can have a slide show
under the tent Brotherhood donated last year.
I would also like to thank Jeff Garis for serving as Brotherhood
president. His term has now ended and Pete Levine will take over. Pete
received the nomination the same way Jeff did. He was absent from the
meeting!
Most of you know that there is a Star of Life in the hallway of our
Temple. Plaques can be purchased to commemorate a happy life cycle event.
Proceeds are used to enhance Temple Beth El programs. The funds are
managed by our Brotherhood. Please help fill the star. For information
call Harvey Katowitz at 704-849-9234 or fill out the form on this page and
send to the Temple.
