“BE A SPONSOR”
At Temple Beth El we are always looking for ways to increase our
income. It would be great if we weren't always asking you for money. Here
are some ideas I have that would help. If you have any others, please let
me know.
First, let's ask your employers. In the past when people asked me if we
were able to obtain matching grants for our programs, my answer usually
was most employers won't give to a Temple. As the NFL officials say,
"after further review" I have discovered that we can obtain these funds.
The rules for most businesses that participate allow you to receive
matching funds for specific causes. For example, we recently received a
contribution for the Religious School Scholarship Fund. Someone else
received a grant for a Social Action program. The congregant who solicited
this donation told me, "It doesn't hurt to ask." So please explore this
option.
Do you have a business you would like to promote? Would you like to let
more than 1100 families know about it? Take out an ad in our bulletin.
Call Steve Rosenauer and he'll give you the rates. In fact, it doesn't
have to be the bulletin. You can sponsor any of our mailings.
Are you having a social event or does your group need a place to meet. Our
Social Hall is one of the finest meeting places in Charlotte. Caterers
that come here tell me they wish there were more kitchens like ours.
Here’s a thought - why not sponsor an Oneg in honor of a special occasion.
Call Joan Makley and she will tell you how to do this!
Do you have an idea for a fundraiser? I've been thinking of a game night
or a monopoly tournament or perhaps trivial pursuit. Norm Levin keeps
asking me about a stock market contest. It would be nice to do something
together, have fun and raise money. Or better yet, do you have an idea for
a fundraiser that involves more than the Temple Beth El community. If you
do, let me know. In the mean time, please respond to the special appeal
letter you received. Many of you have already sent in $60.00 or increased
your pledge by $10.00 a month. Thank you.
There were no contest winners last month. It will return next month.
